Cantala

The pure beauty of natural materials

This collection honours the pure beauty of natural materials like sisal, raffia and paper. The authentic, graceful look of these products is the key feature. The collection owes its name to the Agave cantala, an exotic plant of the Agave family. Sisal fibres are derived from its long, slender leaves which are often up to two metres long. We often see this sisal used in fashion and interior design.

A traditionally-made wallcovering with hand-folded paper as an eyecatcher. The paper is patinated with metallic ink and cut into small strips. These strips are woven with a hand loom. So there is no repeated pattern, making every piece genuinely unique.

Craft
For this plain wallcovering, we studied several varieties of finely-woven sisal. Using a high-quality screen printing technique, we were able to make a wallcovering with the extremely realistic look of natural sisal. This is guaranteed to always reproduce an extremely even and restful weave, without detracting from the sophisticated appearance of woven sisal.

String
Printed on the plain with natural sisal look. The geometry and the large pattern make String a design with tremendous impact. A shadow effect is created at the transition of the various colours, giving the pattern greater depth.

Combo
A design made on the plain with natural sisal look. It is inspired by the rapidly-growing trend of furniture and decoration with elegant, glowing lines and pronounced round shapes. The circles contrast beautifully with the subtle, geometric grid pattern.

Papyrus
A traditionally-made wallcovering with hand-folded paper as an eyecatcher. The paper is patinated with metallic ink and cut into small strips. These strips are woven with a hand loom. So there is no repeated pattern, making every piece genuinely unique.

Raphia
A combination of raffia and rough threads, woven irregularly to highlight its natural character. Both matt materials contrast beautifully with the metallic or lacquered background.
