This huge, bright garden changes with the seasons, with Mount Misao in the background. On a golden base, spring offers a softer side and winter a crispness to the delicate silhouettes of Japanese maples. Completed in 1700 at the request of a feudal lord of the Edo period, Koraku-en is one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan.
