Meanwhile Dabu brings the freshness of natural forms to geometric block printing, with a rhythmic representation of an abstracted leaf. The word ‘dabu’ comes from the Hindi word ‘dabana’ which means ‘to press’, referring to the way hand-carved blocks imprint designs on the fabric. Dabu is finished with special printing techniques for a raised relief texture that echoes the tactile qualities of traditional woodblock printing.
