Goja was inspired by the Fauvism expressionist art movement. Discover the hallmark bright colours and bold motifs that characterise this style. The visible brushstrokes and hand-drawn sketches lend the designs a playful and exuberant air. The drawings have a high degree of simplification and abstraction, the subjects purified and reduced to their essence. The coloured areas are embellished with lines and simple shapes, contrasting and bold.
‘Wild’ is arguably not the best description; we prefer ‘free.’ Free and playful, like spring flowers bursting into bloom after a cold and colourless winter.
