Tulip (Erddig, Wrexham) c.1898
Erddig near Wrexham in North Wales is considered one of the finest country houses in Britain and houses a rich collection of wallpaper. Some still adorn the walls of the state rooms, but many more are kept in the garrets as specimens and remnants. This pattern of curving foliage is unusual in its execution. The hue that gives life and depth to the leaves was a contemporary evolution of the traditional flat damask pattern as early as 1898.
